Rapiscan at Farnborough Airport

Farnborough Airport in the UK is one of the latest air transport hubs to unveil its security screening upgrade in line with the UK Government’s amendment to its Aviation Security Regulations.

The airport’s £3 million investment to upgrade its security screening facility includes the installation of two state-of-the-art cabin baggage screening lanes equipped with the latest C3 screening technology along with advanced security scanners, supplied by Rapiscan.

The C3 screening technology means that passengers are now able to leave large electronic items, such as laptops and tablets in their cabin baggage, as well as liquids in excess of 100ml up to two litres. This advancement streamlines the security process, reducing the need for multiple trays and repacking, resulting in a more efficient passenger journey through the airport. For passenger screening, the introduction of modern security scanners, replacing traditional metal detectors, ensures the highest levels of security in a non-intrusive manner.

“The completion of our £3 million security screening upgrade marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to delivering an unparalleled passenger experience and one that meets the evolving needs of our customers,” said Simon Geere, CEO at Farnborough Airport. “Installing state-of-the-art security technology is testament to the airport’s continuous efforts to take a leading role in driving both service and security standards. Our passengers can now enjoy a faster, smoother and more convenient journey through our airport, knowing they are benefitting from the highest levels of secruity and assurance.”
